Amsterdam is to much tourist, I like the busy streets but Haarlem, Limburg, Groningen en Nijmegen are also nice places to visit

Now that you've worked in both US and Netherlands, do you feel the productivity is still the same? Are you more productive in the shorter time you work here or were you in the end more productive in the US? Because that seems to be a very valuable metric. For the company as well.

Love your video’s! We have friends living in LA. Visited them in April. They go to the gym a few times a week. And then they stay inside, hiding for the sun. We don’t go to the gym but work in our garden. Bike to the grocery store and walk with our dogs. Its just that. Buy a bike, talk to your neighbors and friends and drink a good cup of coffee!

This pretty much sums up why us Dutchies sees 'murica as a failed country. People in the US spend money they don't have, can only be succesful if their health allows it and so on. I love the fact that we in the Netherlands lack the competative driven interpersonal culture that is messing up the US citizens for many many decades.

You don't have to apologize every time, if people feels or thinks, this is a diss track against the Netherlands or the USA. People just need to understand, that no country is perfect . About the water thing. And sorry if this has already been said many times, but I didn't immediately see it. For a large part we can thank the regulations for that. And I say that because when I watch American media I get the sense that about half of America absolutely hates all forms of government regulations. But in the Netherlands, I'm very grateful for it. Because our water is as clean as it is, because it is *required by law* to live up to a certain standard. If we hadn't had that law / set of regulations, I don't know if our water would've been as good as it is today. And the same is true for so many other things. Companies in the EU can't sell us the same dogshit, pardon my language, as they maybe could get away with in the US, because in the EU we regulate the shit out of those companies. From what I understand, the counter argument to having this much regulation is that you're giving your government a lot of power to decide about what they deem to be good and bad. And so it works great when your government is benevolent and competent and you can trust them, but it can get real bad if your government would ever become tyrannical for some reason. But honestly, I'm not too worried about that. I believe we're in a relatively stable situation. The government has been taking good care of our needs and so we trust them. Which means we are happy enough and trusting enough to pay all the taxes that the government needs to keep doing its thing. I believe that's a healthy and stable relationship. Also our democracy is made up of many different parties, as opposed to America's two-party system, which is also an inherently more representative, more stable, less corruptible democracy.

The markethal is a serious tourist trap. Also, they have a huge issue with RATS!!!! I wouldn't be caught dead eating there....

The part were you talked about balance and were it's organised for parents is true. Dont know about other countries but if u make a child you get good benefits. You get "ouderschapsverlof" etcetera. And Although being dutch myself and enjoying your clips i have to say that even with all the benefits and upsides work related or having kids, Dutch people are in my eyes complainers, "het is nooit goed genoeg".

Are there no debit cards in the US? And regarding waiting for the check…we work on a salary mostly and tips are secondary. In other words: not in a desperate hurry to get the next customer in before you are ready to go. Offering the check before then: how rude….

My wife is from Long Island and every time we go home to visit, we have to rent a car. We are getting rid of our car here in NL because we don't use it enough to keep. I will be using Greenwheels if I need a car.

Amongst the Dutch there are a lot of differences and even rivalries. It looks peaceful but in the meantime competition is everywhere on all kind of levels😅

It's not only that Dutch people look healthier, in general they are more handsome and prettier than people in a lot of other countries. Same counts for the people of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. It may sound like a generalisation, but I have travelled the world enough to see the differences.

You say that you think the Dutch look healthier. It is partly due to the food we eat. Many people here eat the traditional food. That is bread or dairy products such as yogurt in the morning. And then many people eat vegetables, potatoes, and meat in the evening. In addition, many people eat fruit. You also see this when you enter the supermarket. The first things you come across are the fruit and vegetables, the bread section, and the dairy products. In addition, many people in the Netherlands practice sports such as fitness, running, cycling, etc. on a daily or weekly basis. This all keeps us healthy and fit 😉

Was probarly not in a rabbit in the kenaupark but a brown rat. have seen them there also. Rabbit highly unlikely since no connection to woods or other parks. But nice to see my city Haarlem each time.

Public transport may be ok in De Randstad but outside it is pretty terrible. In the rural areas trains are cancelled and busses may or may not show up. SInce there is this decline lines do not wait for eachother as they used to, now they need to make it to destination otherwise you miss the next train/bus or boat.

Maybe the Dutch people doesn’t look so tired, because you can have your vacation days. In Amerika it’s a problem to use your free days or vacation..

About the quality of water...the water tastes different in different parts of the Netherlands. It depends if the water is taken and clarified from the dunes, the coastal water, the rivers, the woodland water or the groundwater. To clear the water and make it drinkable we have a good system of clarification and the water is being controlled again and again before it is being made availlable at home!! Good quality water, good quality food, good work/life ballance are contributing to a healthier life, thus people here tend to look better then, as you say , back in the states. We do not have to stress too much about the primary means of life, or keeping up with the Jonesses. But I want to compliment you about you're saying healthcare is NOT free. We have to pay our monthly healthcare bill wich covers a lott of healthcare treatments. But it is NOT free. I sometimes think people in the US think that it's all for free healthcare here in Europe or in the Netherlands

Some remarks about differences in drinking water … Where I live Vitens is the water supplier. It is a N.V. But its shareholders are towns and provinces. This is usual, not privatized like e.g. in the U.K. Their shareholders enjoyed great benefits, ‘not so much’ their consumers and society in general. According to recent news reports. We are probably spoiled here, even compared to the rest of NL, because our “cheap” Vitens-tapwater comes from the Heuvelrug. Basically the same high quality source from where Sourcy is bottled by PepsiCo (Bunnik). Main difference is in price per bottle or per 1000 liter. I did not fully appreciate that until I worked in Minneapolis for 2 months. The tapwater was safe to drink, but contained chlorine. The locals were used to it, I guess. Some places even used tapwater for ice cubes in already nearly freezing drinks. A glass is filled with ice and topped with some drops of cola. The result tastes and smells like a swimming pool, both going in and coming out. When we found bottled water on sale, we filled our car with it. We needed that for drinking, making coffee, cooking etc. Also because it was on sale, and we Dutch love a bargain. I was told that chlorine was not even necessary, but an extra, Minnesota has good water. Not surprising to me as the state was like Finland (just forests and lakes).

The lack of showing off is a general thing in Dutch culture. To some extent the same is true of any behavior that is considered outside the norm that draws attention. While the culture is very individualistic and you are free to express yourself in various ways, people tend to think of showing off your wealth as a kind of dickish, almost childish attention seeking behavior (not to mention it's kind of rude to try to make others jealous). The saying "doe maar gewoon, dan doe je al gek genoeg" encapsulates this ("act normal, that's crazy enough already").

Most of us really don't care what other people have. Some like to brag though ... about how cheap they'd bought something. I know some people that - I guess - have a good income, because they live in a house mine can be the shed in the back of the garden, but we never talk about that. We talk about birds (we're both bird watchers) and where we could find some special ones. Or about some drink we had.
